About Us

Jagannath Singh College is the 1st and the only Institution of Higher Education in the Udharbond L.A. Constituency, established in the year 1998 at the patronage of Sri Ajit Singh, Ex Minister, Excise and Sports, Govt. of Assam, and with the active co-operation of the leading educationists, political leaders, social workers and all classes of people of the society. The College is in the name of Late Jagannath Singh, a renowned political personalities of the State and influencial Cabinet Minister to the Govt. of Assam. The establishment of the College fulfilled the long standing desire of the people of greater Udharbond to have an institution of Higher Education.

The College obtained Permission from the Assam University of holding T.D.C. 1st year class in the year 2000-01. Accordingly, the 1st year T.D.C class with a minimum number of 32 students started during the Session 1999-2000.

Initially the classes were taken in the Building of J.R.D. Public High School, Udharbond and the students had to appear in their Final Examinations as Non-collegiate candidates in the Cachar College Exam. Centre up to 2004.

But in the year 2003, the College had been shifted to it’s own present Building constructed on it’s own land.

The T.D.C. 1st year class of the College has been provisionally Affiliated by the Assam University in the year 2005 and subsequently T.D.C 2nd and 3rd year classes of the College has also been provisionally Affiliated by the Assam University. Moreover, Govt. Concurrence for T.D.C PartI,II, and III was obtained in the same year. The Assam University has granted a T.D.C Examination Centre to J.N.Singh College in the year 2005. Since then the students of this college have been appearing their Final Examinations at their own College.
